Kurt Pearson

Kurt Pearson is the founder of Compass Financial Services. Kurt grew up as a small-town farm boy near Knoxville, Iowa. He attended UNI and graduated with a communications/business BA in 1983.

After seven years in the financial publishing field, Kurt moved to West Des Moines in 1990 with his wife Sandra and their four children to begin his financial planning practice.

Over the past three decades Kurt was involved with leading numerous groups. He has served on the West Des Moines Chamber Board and as president for the West Des Moines Development Corporation.

Kurt is well-known in central Iowa for 27 years of appearances on KCCI-NewsChannel 8, offering sound advice, calm perspectives and reassuring insight on various financial topics. 

Kurt is a pilgrim who enjoys long hikes in a hardwood forest, a bonfire in the fall and a snowshoe walk on a cold winter day. In his spare time you can find Kurt doing a prairie grass burn, hugging that special oak tree or introducing his grandchildren to the wonders of creation.

After more than 30 years as a financial advisor, Kurt officially retired from Compass in 2024.
